About Ivan
I walked into a weightlifting gym at five, because my older brother Georgi was already there. He went on to become an Olympic silver medallist and World Champion, and he has been my coach for my whole career.
I learned the lifts the Bulgarian way: position by position, thousands of repetitions, no shortcuts in technique. That method took me to two European titles, two World Championships silvers, a world snatch title and an Olympic final. It is the same method I teach.
Two brothers, one gym in Burgas. Georgi Markov: Olympic silver in 2000, World Champion in 2002, European Champion in 2002 and 2003, a world record in the snatch. Ivan Markov: two European titles, two World Championships silvers, an Olympic final. Georgi coached Ivan from the age of five. Markov Weightlifting is that gym, online.
You want to learn the lifts properly from day one instead of fixing bad habits for years.
Your snatch is the weak link. Usually the problem is positions, not strength, and positions can be taught.
You need periodised programming toward a meet and a second pair of eyes on every heavy session.
